We are recruiting!   We are looking for an experienced Fire Risk Assessor to join our established team. The role will be based in and around the Home Counties, with further UK travel expected. A safety background / qualification is desirable, as is membership of relevant professional bodies.   The role will involve the delivery of our BAFE certificated Fire Risk Assessments as well as conducting fire assurance works. With a profound sadness, we have been informed of the passing of ACT's founder Steve Butler. Steve formed ACT in 1997 following a career which took him from a 'backstreet panel beater' to an internationally recognised Accident Repair speaker and trainer. Steve was the very definition of a people's person and was liked & respected by his peers in equal measure. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

The general consensus in the room is that the defence is marginally ahead at the break. As we stop for lunch at our mock court trial, our guests deliberate the evidence they have heard so far. Lots of good discussion taking place, with our risk management partner Aon colleagues on hand to listen to our guests’ opinions. As we enter the afternoon session, the two accused parties take to the stand - will this shift the opinion in the room? Can the prosecution highlight errors for which the accused can be held accountable for? Once again, huge thanks to Aspen Insurance Group for sponsoring today’s event.

After hearing from the HSE Inspector in today’s mock court trial, we now focus upon the evidence being provided by the site’s Health & Safety Manager. Could / should they have done more to prevent a terrible accident? At what point does their delegated authority start and finish? Can they be held culpable for their acts or ommisons or did these key decisions take place elsewhere? The truth will out via the professional cross examinations of our legal teams. The calm before the storm. With our risk management partners Aon we are in Birmingham today, running the next instalment of our mock court trial series. Sponsored by Aspen Insurance Group, today’s trial will focus upon the concept of decision making capabilities in the event of a criminal case. Our guests will act as the jury as we investigate how acts and omissions are considered by the judicial system. Attending the event are our very own David Gleeson, Stella Preston and Mark Wheeldon.
